When God created Adam and Eve, the first husband and wife, He told them to be fruitful and multiply.
“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on Earth.’” — Genesis 1:28.
In Chapter 4, The Bible says that Adam knew his wife and she conceived and bore a son named Cain, and then she bore a son named Abel. When the Bible describes sexual intimacy between a husband and wife, it uses the terminology, to know, go into, and lay with. The word sex is not in the original text of the Bible. It is translated in Hebrew yada, meaning to know. In Chapter 3, when Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God’s command not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, it brought about the fall of man, which was eternal spiritual separation from God.
As a result, Adam and Eve were forced to leave the garden of Eden.
“So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.” — Genesis 3:24.
Inherently, we are living in the falling state of man since the disobedience of Adam and Eve. Even though the creation failed to revere the creator’s command, God in His love and mercy had a plan B course of action to redeem man. He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whom so ever shall believe on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Our Lord Jesus lowered Himself to become a sacrifice for our sins.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”— Romans 5:8.
One of the sins that He has redeemed us from is that of sexual sin. It manifests in many forms. For singles, the temptation to fornicate, which is to have sex outside the covenant of marriage, is the greatest struggle.
Our society no longer holds any standards when it comes to sexual sin. There is little to no reverence when it comes to the Word of God. This is why every born again believer who confesses Christ as Lord and Savior must always pray and asks the Holy Spirit to help you. He is the Spirit of the one true living God and His assignment is to comfort, guide, and help.
“And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” — John 14:26.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He lives on the inside of us. That is why in Romans 12:1, we are told to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God.
In my walk of living sexually pure for many years, I can testify that God will keep you if you allow Him to. I have learned to lean not to my own understanding but acknowledge Him in all my ways. As a result, God is directing my paths. Clarity and pursuit of purpose are the two main attributes that a single person who is living sexually pure will gain. Although many singles may have succumbed to the pressures of the world and have fallen away, some are holding on to God’s unchanging hands. I have crossed paths with many women and heard stories of men who have taken a stand against sexual sin. The end result is the blessings of financial increase, joy, peace, a higher level of spiritual intimacy with God, and marriage.
It is never too late to start afresh and yes, God will forgive you if you have fallen away.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.”— 1 John 1:9.
Make today the day that you will take a stand for purity from sexual sin and be counted among the remnant who dare to remain common in an uncommon world.
