Have you ever made mistakes? I know I have. I can remember one particular time in my life where I had a leadership position at a daycare facility. It happened suddenly, and honestly, I wasn’t ready for it. Even though I had some years of experience working in daycare, but leadership is a whole different animal. Alot of things I learned through trial and error. There was a particular person who was in management. For some reason, she didn’t care for me, and the other young lady in management. At the time, we were doing the best we knew how. But, for her it wasn’t good enough. Imagine being shifted in a position suddenly without really knowing how to get started.
I had to learn how to do alot in a short amount of time. It became stressful for me. At the time, I was an Assistant Director, so I would have to be ready for change at anytime. Honestly, I felt unqualified, and overwhelmed. As time went on, I realized I made some mistakes. I would ask my partner for advice, but mostly she didn’t offer any help. So, whatever I decided fell on me. Many began to complain. My attitude wasn’t the best to be honest. The day came, when management came to me and said, it wasn’t working out. I had conflict with some staff members and parents.
The day came when she told me they were demoting me, and sending me another facility, of the same company in a different location. The young lady that was assisting me ended up taking my position. The blessing was, it was less stressful and about 5 minutes from where I lived. I was in a preschool classroom, with only nine children. I look back, and realized, I could have done things differently. I was embarrassed as I thought back to how I did things, but I learned from those mistakes. Proverbs 37:24 says, “Thou he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.” To my surprise, the staff had a surprise celebration for me. Instead of leaving in shame, God turned it into celebration. ??
Have you made mistakes recently? Did you feel guilty or embarrassed? Do you look back, and regret your decisions? Just know, it was all for your good. Jesus can remove your guilt and shame and lift you up again. Guilt and shame is of the enemy. Ask the Lord to help you forgive yourself, and get back up again.
Father in the name of Jesus, I ask that you help me in this time of dissappintment. I did some things wrong, and I need your outlook on this situation. Your word says in Roman’s 3:23, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”, so I know I can get back up and dust myself off. I thank you for removing guilt and shame from my life. I can do All things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil 4:13). In Jesus name, Amen.
