I learned how to worship when I first became saved and developed a hunger to be in the presence of God. My life was changed, transformed, and renewed. I had never experienced God’s tangible presence, and I longed for it. I cried out for more of Him as I embraced His love. Once God got a hold of me, He never let me go. My worship deepened over several events.
Event 1:
When I was living at 327 fletcher St. Bennettsville, SC, I was attending Northeastern Tech college studying to be a Nurses Aide. At the time, I did not have my driver’s permit or a car, so I had to rely on public transportation. Well, one day, I was talking about the Lord and how good He is, and the Holy Ghost fell on me like Fire. I said, “Lord, please just let me make it home so I can give you some praise.” When the van pulled up to my house, I rushed inside my prayer room, the laundry room, to praise God. His presence was so strong in this room and that I could always hear His voice.
Event 2:
Once the Lord spoke to me and warned me not to allow my children and me to sleep in the living room but to sleep in our beds. He knew that there was a diamond head baby snake in my house. I found it the next day in the living room. This event is why I worship the Lord.
Event 3:
When I attended a storefront church in McCall, SC, founded by Apostle and Prophetess Woodham, I just got saved and learned how to praise God. I broke many tambourines when the Holy Spirit fell upon me. People in the church would hide their tambourines from me.
One of the leaders, brother Johnathan knew that I could not tell the difference between E flat and C sharp. However, he gave me a chance to take the keyboard home until I could hit a note. One day the late Bishop Irving Dease came to preach at the church. On that day, there was no one available to play the keyboard or organ, so I decided to help him. I got up and played a key for him while he was preaching. He looked over at me, but he kept on preaching regardless of how bad the sound was. I thought that I was playing a good note because he started preaching even harder, not realizing that he was preaching to quiet the keyboard’s sound.
Event 4:
I joined Solid Rock Holiness church, where Apostle Ervin and first lady Marry Dease became my Spiritual parents. They taught me so much about worshiping God, and at that church, I first experience deliverance and casting out Devils. Apostle Irving Dease’s favorite word he would say to me was, “Use what’s in your hands.” So I thought to myself, I had a tambourine and broke it when the Holy Spirit fell. I tried playing the keyboard but couldn’t hit a note.
God has a great sense of humor. He gave me the gift of worshiping Him, praising dancing with flags, and taught me how to make them. The Holy Spirit is always seeking a worshipper. The Bible says, “He that worship me must worship wholeheartedly, in spirit and truth.” God is always working for His people, healing them mentally and physically. He is a God that knows how to come in and do surgery. No matter what trauma you may be suffering from, mind, GI tract, or heart, God will help heal and deliver you from every infirmity. His word says some sickness is not unto death. In other words, it may take a little bit longer for some illnesses to be healed. Some healing can take place when you get into worship which is loving on Him. When we worship God, He can heal our marriages, stinking thinking, and brokenness. Therefore I worship Him because He is my Abba Father, my Ruach Elohim.
