What is rebellion? It is when we refuse to obey authority. Rebellion is the very nature of Satan. Not only did pride get him kicked out of heaven, but the spirit of rebellion was at work. (Isaiah 14:12-15) Just think, how full of yourself could you be to, dare think, you are better than God! See the spirit of rebellion, and the spirit of pride are deadly twins. I know because I was rebellious in my teen years, and in adulthood.
Regardless, of the consequences, I found ways to do what I wanted. I was in rebellion when I was committing adultery. It was all about me, and I could care7 less about his wife. He said she wasn’t meeting g his needs. So I felt I could. I was only getting his side.I knew better, judged someone in my life for doing it, and there I was, doing the very think I “said” I would never do. See, when we allow rebellion in our heart, we throw common sense down the drain. Once that seed is planted, a harvest will come. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. (1Sam 15:23) Those who practice witchcraft desire to be in control. In other words ,you desire to do it your way only. I will share my experience with this sin.
I was in the Navy at the time. Stationed in Virginia. I went to the beach with some of my friends. I was backslide at the time.The beach strip had all kinds of shops. I saw a palm reader sign. I was like..hmmm… this sounds interesting. I was in this adulterous relationship at the time, and needed answers. I knew what the word said about these practices. Revelation 21:8 says, “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murders, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, isolates, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death”. We should have no parts in it.
I went to the psychic, and told her about this married man I was seeing. I wanted to know our “future”. Trust me, I think back and shake my head, at how ignorant I was. She told me ,we would be together, and he would leave his wife. I was happy with that answer. I also went to another psychic on Virginia Beach Blvd wanting to know about my life. Long story short, Mrs, West told me I had a curse on my life, and for $300 she would give me instructions on how to remove it. Needless to say, I never went back.
See, these things opened doors for the enemy to destroy my life. Especially, if we don’t repent from participating in these things. Looking at horoscopes, astrological signs, going to mediums to talk to our dead loved ones, is all an abomination to God. (Ecclesiastes 9:5) How can we be christians and do this? He says he knew us in our mother’s womb. He knows our future, and nobody else can tell us that but him. (Jeremiah 29:11) His word doesn’t says a psychic or a palm reader knows his plans, He does. These people get their information from familiar spirits. Familiar spirits know your family history better than you do, which is why the information is accurate, but the source is demonic. Anything we seek outside of him in idolatry. (Exodus 20:3-6)
I know some don’t see the harm in doing these things. But, if we do these things, the Holy Spirit is grieved. If he is grieved, he will not dwell in us. Our body is his temple. (1 Corinthians 10:19) His plans should be the only ones we are concerned about. Man’s knowledge is limited. In case you need more proof that mediums and psychics are operating with a familiar spirit, read about the story of Saul, when he wanted to call up Samuel. He sought out a woman with a familiar spirit. It wasn’t Samuel speaking to him, it was that spirit. Saul was rebellious, and God was not speaking to him anymore. How sad is it for you to be so far away from God, you have to seek a witch to hear for you! (1 Samuel 28:3-25)
Learn from me, it was not worth it. Needless to say, this man did not leave his wife. He broke it off with me. So, that lady lied. It wasn’t God’s will anyway. Married men and women are off limits. What God has joined together let no man separate. (Mark 10:9) We can walk in rebellion in many areas in our lives. Especially if God is telling us to do something, and we refuse to. Are you refusing to do something Jesus is calling you to do? Are you willingly living a double life? Ask Him to help you walk in obedience.
Father in the name of Jesus, please forgive me for walking in the spirit of rebellion. I have refused to obey you in some areas, and others you placed to lead in my life. Your words says if I confess my sins, you will forgive me of them, and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).I ask for your help to walk in obedience. I thank you for revealing truth to me in this area of my life. I ask for you to create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10). I choose today to turn away from those things. I thank you for a clean start. In Jesus name, Amen.
